Obituary of Eugene Allen Atwell

Eugene Allen Atwell, aged 73, of West Brooklyn, peacefully passed away on April 16, 2024, at his home. Born in Wolfville he was the son of the late Donald and Grace Atwell.

“Jack of all trades, Master of trees”

Eugene was immensely proud of his wife, Kim, admiring her strength, love and support; and, his children and grandchildren filled him with pride. As a husband, father, grandfather, son and friend, he cherished these roles above all.

“For Eugene family was truly everything!”

Eugene adored Christmas, with his Christmas lights on year-round, he was a constant source of christmas spirit and joy. Eugene’s family cherished the tradition of gathering for turkey dinner during the holiday season.

Eugene had a great talent for cutting trees and loved the challenge of climbing them and making sure they fell in the right direction. Farming was Eugene’s greatest passion, raising pigs, cows, and meat birds, he always ensured his family and friends had a hot meal on the table.

Growing up in a big family of 24, with his father also a farmer, Eugene’s passion for farming ran deep. Eugene found joy in nature, observing birds, watching his fish and listening to country music.

Beyond his role as a provider, Eugene was a pillar of strength and a beacon of light in the lives of those around him. Known for his loyalty and generosity, Eugene touched the hearts of many. A true friend to many, everyone knew him as “uncle Gene”. He was like a guardian angel to his family and friends, always there to lend a helping hand and offer words of wisdom.

Eugene is survived by his devoted wife of 23 years, Kim Atwell; his three children; Kevin Atwell, Mathew (Davina) Atwell, and Melissa (Jodie) Atwell; his cherished grandchildren Maranda (Nick), Thea, Leo, and Quinn; as well as several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Eugene was predeceased  by several brothers and sisters.
